SHARPS CONTAINER

OSHA has specific guidelines for handling regulated biohazard waste. Used sharps, such as needles, are a regulated biohazard waste.

OSHA requires sharps containers to be puncture proof. Needles and other sharps must be discarded in a sharps container. Needles should never be recapped broken, bent, or sheared off. Never pick up damaged needles with fingers. Use a device such as pliers or a broom and dustpan and dispose in the sharps container.
